Diabetes Education

The Diabetes Education Department at Cushing Regional Hospital offers valuable inpatient and outpatient services to patients at CRH and surrounding areas.

The Center for Diabetes Education and the Nutritional Service Department provides nutritional assessments and education for modified or therapeutic diets. Individual meal plans with sample menus are also provided to help meet the nutritional needs of the individual.

On an outpatient level, the Diabetes Education Department provides a Self-Management Educational Class that enables individuals to better manage their diabetes. A Nurse Educator will discuss the following topics:

  • The disease process
  • Medication
  • Chronic Illness, associated with diabetes
  • Meal Planning
  • Exercise
  • Foot Care

The class meets once a week for a month, every other month.

The Nutritional Food Service Department at CRH provides Meals on Wheels to home bound individuals living in the city limits of Cushing. To find out more information on receiving Meals on Wheels, contact Brian Wright at 918-225-8188. The Food Service Department also provides economical and nutritious meals to the public for lunch (11:30am-1:00pm) and dinner (5:30pm-6:30pm).
